So, if you know my mom, you know that her favorite place in the world is Disneyland! Ever since I was a little kid it's been at the top of her list for "a little trip", and when I lived in LA I had to take her to Disneyland every time she visited... She has Mickey pajamas, Disney cocoa mugs, and Disney dish towels in her kitchen.
She first went to Disneyland in Anaheim a few years after it opened with some of her girlfriends in the late fifties, and has been hooked ever since. So, when I started planning this trip - surprising her with Disneyland Paris was first on the list, and has had me the most excited!! Now I understand how it feels when parents surprise their kids with a trip to Disney!!!
Today we jumped on the train, but we wouldn't tell her where we were going and she had no idea where we were taking her... Come to find out, she thought we were going to Versailles and actually had no idea Disneyland Paris even existed.
We had such a nice time and she loved it all - Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, etc - only thing she wasn't stoked with was their version of Indiana Jones - it was a hard and fast roller coaster that she wouldn't get back on if you paid her!! ...and the only other downside for me is that their parade song has been stuck in my head ever since.. I woke up at 5 am this morning and my head was trying to "celebrate the joy and laughter.." Ufff.
But, all things considered, this may have been one of the best days of my life - after all, it IS the happiest place on earth!!!
